Fishing
With over 100 lakes, rivers and streams in Klamath County, this area offers some of the finest fishing in the U.S. Local hunters and fly fishermen proudly state that there are few places on the planet as rich with wildlife as Klamath County.  Record trout populate the rivers feeding Upper Klamath Lake.

The Williamson and Sprague Rivers
These Rivers known for very large Rainbow Trout, which move into the river from Upper Klamath Lake.  Five to ten pound trout are to be expected here with really big trout seen rolling.  A professional Fly-fishing Guide is not mandatory but highly recommended.

Upper Klamath and Agency Lakes are very large and not deep. Trout will congregate in one of many springs located in the lake. Using a local fly-fishing guide is a great way to find these springs and holding monster trout. Agency Lake Rainbow Trout  Fly-fishing is a trophy trout fishery as is Klamath Lake Rainbow Trout Fly-fishing.

Weekly Recreation Reports

Klamath River
The Klamath National Forest provides public access to over 150 miles of designated Scenic and Recreational Rivers that are open to fishing for sea-run steelhead trout and salmon.  Bank fishing opportunities are almost limitless.  Most of the main river corridors are accessed by roads of varying quality, but actual access to the rivers may be restricted by steep terrain in some places.

There are 38 river access points for rafts and kayaks on the Forest, and many of them along the Klamath River are also suitable for drift boat launching.  However, it is advisable to check with our River Ranger for more information concerning conditions and skill level required.  White water skills are necessary for river float trips because the river can turn from mild to wild very quickly.  Local guides and outfitters are available to arrange a safe and comfortable river trip for you.
